Welcome Home

If you are a visitor to Saint Patrick Church, we want you to know how welcome you are, whether you have come here from another part of the country, from across the world, or simply from another parish here in the Archdiocese of Hartford. Thanks in part to the generosity of visitors like yourself, we are able to celebrate the Church’s liturgy here in a fitting and beautiful way.

Dear Parishioners,
Today is the first Sunday of the Holy Season of Lent. The ashes we received on Wednesday remind us of the shortness of life and the need to embrace personal discipline in this Lenten season. Each one of us should commit to some special act of penance, mortification or daily prayers. Since we are in the Holy Year of Mercy and Forgiveness we are being presented by the church with a call for a special observance of this 2016 Lenten season. Every Monday from 6:00 -7:00 pm a visiting priest will be here to hear confessions in the church. This is the case in all churches of the Archdiocese. It is a great opportunity to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation.

In addition, the Stations of the Cross will be held every Friday night except Good Friday. Along with the Stations, a Lenten Penitential Supper will be served in the church hall at 6:00 pm. Information is included in the bulletin. Also there will be special Lenten talks on Wednesdays in March. Further information will be provided. Another Lenten practice would be to make a visit to the Holy Door at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Hartford. Archbishop Blair has encouraged parishioners to visit the Cathedral to pass through the Holy Door. Finally, Palm Sunday will come soon enough with the beautiful liturgical celebrations of Holy Week.

Please try to participate in as many as possible.
